Good morning,// honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen.

I am going to talk about “My Experience /in Learning English”.

English is beautiful. //But under the pressure /of education in Taiwan, learning English /is usually like// completing a task// instead of /obeying one's own interest. Therefore, I got sick//and tired of learning//boring grammars /and lifeless words/ in the past. But now,/// great changes/ have taken place on me, //and every change /is the change to/ the better. Not only did I get /high marks in tests, but more importantly/ I began to /use /English. It was a miracle /but I made it,/ yet how do I//account for this?///stop here...... The factor is ///the  motivation.

  As far as I am concerned, English dramas ///are of great help ///in promoting my interest in English. One day,// a friend of mine /asked me /to watch with her// a drama //called “Grey’s Anatomy”./// I was soon attracted/// to the funny //and meaningful plot /which provided me ///a virtual life in west// to participate in. I began to /imitate /characters’ pronunciation, which gave me// lots of fun. This drama /changed my attitude /towards English. Soon after that, watching English dramas /became /my favorite hobby. Each time, when I finished the series,// I couldn’t help// thinking ///and speaking //in English. The feeling I got ///from imitating /the pronunciation ///of my favorite character //and their famous words //was just fabulous! Not long later, I was surprised /at my progress --- I could understand /most of the content /even without subtitles. Wow! That was a wonderful feeling! I /was deeply inspired! My understanding///of English culture background// was improved ///and I know/ /how to use English/ in a right way. After then, I became /an active student/ in English class and began to enjoy /learning and using English.

Personally, I think, the key /to learning English well /is to keep /high level of motivation. Ask ourselves a question “Do we feel happy /when we learn English?” If our answer is “no”, we’d better hurry up /and find something /interesting to us. Always remember that,/// the more /fun// we have with English,/// the easier// it will be /to learn.
